Getting Started

Getting Started provides all the basics to help a new golfer become comfortable on the golf course.

The first part of the program, EWGA First Swing, covers the basics of golf.  Participants are introduced to the terminology, basic rules as well as the etiquette of the game and have the opportunity to practice shots and techniques required to play the game.

The second part of the program, EWGA Play Days, provides the chance to get out on the course to become comfortable with the etiquette of the game and how to get around the golf course.  At the end of the two programs, new golfers are comfortable enough to sign up for their local Chapter golf league or new golfer events.

Read what participants are saying about the EWGA Getting Started Program:

  •  The experience was fantastic. It was the shortest 3 hours of the week.

  • This was about the most fun I've had in 10 years! Our teaching professional made the skills seem easy and gave us ways to focus that were memorable!

  • All the mentors were so encouraging.  I will be there for next year's new players.

  • This was a great opportunity to learn golf from a women's perspective. It was fun having other women who were as uncomfortable as me about playing with others because of our lack of knowledge.  Now I am excited and feel that although I am not a great golfer and still have a long way to go, I can go play at anytime and have fun.

  • My teaching professional was absolutely fabulous! I have no athletic ability at all! None! And yet she made me feel as if I could go out and golf with others.
