Northern Florida and Southeast EWGA Semi-final Winners Advance to Final Round in Largest U.S. Amateur Women’s Golf Competition

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., July 29, 2011 – Lori Whitaker, from Atlanta and the 2008 EWGA Championship winner, was the medalist for the EWGA Northern Florida and Southeast Semi-Final held on Saturday, July 23 on the Deer Creek Course at The Landings in Skidaway Island near Savannah, Georgia.

The EWGA (Executive Women's Golf Association) Championship is considered the world's largest amateur women's golf competition. It begins at the chapter level with members competing in individual stoke play in five flights based on USGA handicaps and a scramble team competition. First place low gross and low net winners in each flight and the winning scramble team advance to one of the 15 semi-final competitions held throughout the United States. Each of the first place semi-final winners compete in the 36-hole championship finals to be held at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Desert Willow Golf Club in Palm Desert, California on October 21 -22, 2011. Now in its 16th year, this annual nationwide competition attracts over 2400 participants.

The seven EWGA chapters represented in the Northern Florida and Southeast include Atlanta, Birmingham, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Orlando, Mobile Bay Area and Savannah-Hilton Head, SC chapter.
